Yes, the main point of Arcanarum is to take from a fictional setting, however, not one of their own "fictional" characters. For example: If a Harry Potter character decided to be, say, one of the characters in the Tales of Beetle the Bard, that wouldn't be allowed. You have to pick a fictional character from a different story for the game.
